1)  sand and repaint radiators covers (DONE - Summer 2013)

And Yet Again ...

Totally forgot about this blog.  I do that a lot lately - forget.  I even started keeping a log of things I want to be sure to remember.  Like where I'm storing the extra lightbulbs.  Moved them from the kitchen cabinet to the entertainment center which is an unused storage area.  Finally settling in.  Going to go back and cross some items off my to-do list and add some more.

Oops, I Did It Again!

Started another blog that I forgot about.  I remembered Home Sweet Home and typed that in as the URL, and came upon a blog that might have been created by me in 2001.  I tried logging in and when I couldn't, asked for password assistance.  A hint was sent to my Yahoo! address.  What Yahoo! address?  I do recall having one once upon a time, but I haven't been there in at least a decade.  There was only one post so no great loss.

Got quotes on having the trees taken down.  Was all set to go with one guy and then someone else came in with a bid $300 lower.  Asked the first guy if he wanted to match and he said no so I hired the lowest bid.  And it's been a month and not a peep out of him.  You get what you pay for!  I'm going to call and check up on him because I want to do some work on the porch and maybe put in a patio and I want the trees removed first.

Had a mild winter and a warm March so things popped up early.  The perennials are doing well - the ferns even came back.  Susan gave me a few more plants; Rich took some of them and I'm finding spots for the rest.  The climatis is doing well - I have some string for it to climb.  I'll have to think about putting photos in here - much more interesting when there are some photos.

Funny How That Happens

More things get added to the list before the original list is completed ...

1)  hang blinds (9 of 10 installed; still need to possibly purchase 3 more - not happy that upstairs doesn't take inside mount)  Not sure when, but I finally hung the last one Fall 2012)
2)  replace wall sconce in stairwell  (10/8/11)
3)  replace outlet covers (10/8/11 five or six done ... so many more to go!)
4)  sand radiator covers (10/8/11 well, we purchased the sandpaper ... does that count?  1/1/13 - still in process)

A Few More Things for the To-Do List

Replace hot water heater elements.(September 25, 2011)

I'm managing for now - able to turn thermostat up but don't want to risk blowing second element.  Bought two new ones but Rich didn't have time to install (have to drain the 50 gallons in the hot water heater) so I'm going to limp along for at least another week.  If all else fails, I can shower at the Y - haven't exercised there so at the very least I can get my money's worth in hot water!

So Much To Do ...

... so little time.  A few more things to add to the list:

1)  install timer for front porch light (purchased 10/9/11) DONE!
2)  get Jack back to touch up paint job (yeah, right ... asked him to come before furniture delivered on 10/8/11 and he didn't make it.  I painted it myself.  Dude so owes me a gallon of paint.)
3)  hang blinds (purchased 10 of 12 early Sept; installed two so far)  DONE save for one last one in guest bedroom; maybe I'll do it tonight

Welcome to the Money Pit

Well, that's not exactly fair.  The house was in pretty good shape and I didn't need to sink a lot of money into it for essential repairs, just cosmetic stuff.  It was completely rebuilt from foundation up in 1999 and has new plumbing, heating, windows, insulation etc.  The roof needed some work which was done prior to closing, and basically everything I have done is something I wanted to do like painting the interior throughout, refinishing the living room floor, replacing the dining room floor and totally trashing the yard.

Of course, there is still a long list of want to's and some of them are actually need to's (just not immediate - but some of them are imminent).  Here's a look:

1)  replace thermostats with programmables (purchased 9/25/11; wrong kind ... 2nd purchase 10/8/11) DONE!
2)  replace kitchen and dining room lights
3)  replace medicine chest in upstairs bathroom (purchased 8/14/11; installed 9/3/11)
4)  buy a bed! (ordered 9/17/11; will take 8 weeks to arrive and then need to finish ...) DONE!
5)  buy a sofa (ordered 9/8/11; delivered 10/8/11)
6)  buy an entertainment cabinet (ordered 9/18/11) DONE!
7)  replace 1st floor toilet  (Sunday, August 14)
8)  fix bilco door area
9)  replace basement window (and radon remediation?)

13)  fix closet doors in guest room and dressing room
14)  fix front porch outlet (Saturday, September 17 - just needed to reset GFCI switch!)

16)  remove trees in back corner of lot (DONE 7/2/12)
17)  gutters on porch (Can't be done - had a guy come to do quote and I don't have enough of something to hang them.
18)  replace vent cover on second floor bathroom
19)  finish planting hosta in side yard (Saturday, August 20)
20)  finish moving red stones so you can plant in front of porch (9/17/11 working on it ...9/25/11 call it done; plants planted and mulched)
21)  plant trellis and climatis (Saturday, August 13)

I'm sure there's more but that's a pretty good list to start.  And I've already got quite a bit done.  I can post photos but best place to go is Facebook where I can put before and after pictures next to each other.
